Axway, a market leader in governing the flow of data, has shown its commitment to the Irish economy by expanding its R&D Centre of Excellence based in Dublin. The move will immediately provide 15 software engineering jobs in the area and continue to grow over the years.

The Centre of Excellence will be Axway’s global hub for its API Gateway research and development. APIs (Application Interface Programming) are the DNA of the next generational shift in technology; cloud, mobile, social and the Internet of Things will all be built using APIs. In our increasingly connected world, APIs break down the language barriers between multiple devices providing the foundations of the smart home and connected car.

Axway, on foot of its acquisition late last year of Irish company Vordel, is a world leader in the development of API Management technology. Axway, with 11,000 customers in more than 100 countries, is the only IT provider in the market today to manage, run, secure and monitor all business interactions across on-premises, Cloud, and Mobile. Each customer depends on Axway’s proven breadth of services and layers of governance to build and improve value chain efficiency, regulatory compliance and quality of service.

The internet economy has often been credited with playing a key role in Ireland’s economic recovery. Axway joins a list of other big tech firms such as Amazon, Facebook, Google and Linkedin, which have all recently expanded their operations in Dublin. The company expansion will look to make the most of the local engineering talent.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD says: “Axway’s decision to expand its R&D Centre of Excellence and create 15 high quality jobs is a clear indication of Ireland’s importance as a key location for technology companies to expand and grow their business. Under our Action Plan for Jobs we have identified the technology sector as an area of great potential and I am committed to ensuring that we continue to attract further investments and create much needed jobs for this economy.”

“There is a world class software engineering population in Ireland and we want to recruit from this talent pool. Dublin in particular is globally acknowledged as a hub of engineering excellence and we will be looking to recruit senior engineering staff for our R&D Centre,” says Laurent Bride, Executive Vice President of Research & Development, Axway.” Engineers joining us will be working on some of the latest computing technologies as we evolve Axway’s enterprise software portfolio, to ensure we are at the forefront of the Cloud and Mobile innovation curve.”

According to Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland, the announcement further reinforces Ireland as the leading location for software companies like Axway to support and service customers in the EMEA region.
