First Data To Create R&D Hub In Co Tipperary
FirstData, a global payment technology solutions company, has announced that intends to establish a research and development center in Ireland. The new R&D center in Nenagh will be the company’s first Irish location outside of Dublin.
It will be located in Nenagh, Co Tipperary at an existing 32,000-square foot facility at Stereame Business Park that requires renovation, and is being supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
The facility will employ up to 300 highly-skilled employees and centralise work on a number of the firm’s technology platforms. Roles in the areas of application/software development, application analysis, business analysis, technical project management, systems consulting, and enterprise architecture are expected to be desired at the new facility.
Tom Higgins, First Data’s Chief Administrative Officer, said :
“We are looking forward to expanding our presence in Ireland with this new facility in Nenagh, County Tipperary that will house some of our most advanced research work in payments technology.”
Hiring for these roles will commence later this year ahead of the facility’s opening, expected in 2017.
