JLL has released new research that places Dublin as a global ‘Innovator’ city for the future. Among the new city types, ‘Innovators’ that possess world-class capabilities in science and technology have seen investment volumes grow by 50% since 2006.
Underpinned by strong entrepreneurial and research capabilities, Innovators such as Berlin, Boston, Seattle and Dublin are important cities in high-value economies. They attract among the greatest volume of real estate investment relative to their size.
This new research challenges traditional approaches to global city performance, by evaluating their strengths and opportunities for real estate investors, developers and corporate occupiers by looking beyond standard metrics.
Hannah Dwyer, Head of Research, JLL Ireland said: “It is positive to see that Dublin ranks within the ‘Innovator’ group, alongside locations such as Silicon Valley, Boston, and Tel Aviv. The common characteristics that these cities have is that they are smaller, more specialised, yet highly globally-oriented. Dublin remains a strong location to do business, with a high number of multinational companies already locating here, following on with a competitive corporate tax rate, efficient technology capabilities and a highly-skilled, well-educated workforce. It is on the global map for both investors and corporates and is thriving as a destination for real estate, capital, business and talent.”
